NHS Direct’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be available to watch live online on Monday 25 July.
The AGM is an important opportunity for NHS Direct to review a busy year and look to the future. The meeting will be available to watch live from10.30am at www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk or after the meeting.
This is the second year that NHS Direct has web streamed its AGM. Its monthly board meetings have also been available to watch online since September 2010. On average around 400 people watch the Board meeting via the web every month, either live or after the meeting.
Joanne Shaw, NHS Direct Chair, said: “Over the past year our web streamed Board meetings have connected us with the public and other stakeholders. We now serve more patients over the internet than by telephone. Web-based services, including our new mobile app, will continue to play a major role in our offering. Being a national organisation, and given the proven popularity of virtual and remote healthcare, it seemed a natural step to give people the opportunity to ‘virtually attend’ our public meetings.”
The meeting will include an opening statement from Joanne Shaw and an introduction to the Trust’s Annual Report & Accounts 2010/11 from Chief Executive, Nick Chapman, speaking about the year’s activities.
There will also be a presentation of a short film, ‘Delivering NHS 111’, looking at the Trust’s involvement in the NHS 111 pilots. This will include interviews with staff who have been delivering NHS 111 and partners it has worked with.
The meeting will include a Q&A session with the Board, and NHS Direct has been asking members of the public to submit their questions in advance to board@nhsdirect.nhs.uk.
The meeting is open to the public and will take place at: 2nd Floor, 120 Leman Street, London, E1 8EU. The July Board meeting, which is also in public, will follow the AGM and will also be available to watch online.
