NHS Direct takes steps to address unexpectedly high demand for its telephone helpline

Calls to NHS Direct have been significantly higher than expected so a number of steps have been taken to improve service delivery during this busy period.

NHS Direct delivering NHS 111 in East Midlands and East of England

The new NHS 111 service was launched in Nottingham City on Thursday 18 November followed closely by Lincolnshire on Monday 22 November. In the East of England, NHS 111 was publicly launched in Luton on Friday 3 December.

Exciting collaboration between NHS Direct and Diabetes UK takes their partnership to a new level

The development of a new joint telephony ‘conferencing’ capability means that the Diabetes UK Careline can now transfer callers directly to NHS Direct, if and when appropriate.

More MPs come to see NHS Direct at work
