Latest awareness figures

The latest research to measure awareness of NHS Direct among adults in England was conducted by Continental Research in November 2008.

It showed that spontaneous awareness (already being aware) of NHS Direct is now 30%, and prompted awareness (after being told about the service) has reached 82%.

In addition, 16% of those surveyed could recall the NHS Direct telephone number – 0845 4647.

Patient satisfaction

From the people who had used the NHS Direct telephone service before, 87% of them were either satisfied or very satisfied with the service they had received.

Furthermore, 64% of all adults said they were fairly likely or very likely to use the service in future.
