Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 was introduced to oversee access to information held by public bodies. The Freedom of Information Act gives individuals or organisations the right to request information held by a public authority.

As a public body, NHS Direct has a duty to comply with all aspects of the Freedom of Information Act 2000. In this section you can find out what’s available to members of the public under the NHS Direct Freedom of Information Publication Scheme. There is also guidance for Freedom of Information enquirers and advice about making a Freedom of Information request.
