The latest research shows that public awareness of NHS Direct has risen since it was last measured in April 2009. Spontaneous (i.e. top of mind) awareness of NHS Direct is now 37% and prompted awareness (i.e. after a name prompt) has reached 87%.
Awareness of the NHS Direct telephone service is highest amongst the 35-54 year old age group (89%) whereas awareness of the NHS Direct website is highest amongst the 16-34’s (75%).
The increase in public awareness of NHS Direct can be attributed to ongoing promotional activity and the widespread media coverage NHS Direct received at the height of the swine flu pandemic.
The research was conducted by Continental Research in November 2009 amongst a representative sample of adults in England.
