Procurement and contracting adds value to the overall supply chain, negotiating contracts to ensure compliance with EU, NHS Direct and statutory policies. We work to principles of open competition, transparency and fair treatment of suppliers.
All procurement of goods or services go through our Oracle i-procurement system (exceptions as of January 2011 being utilities, property costs, travel and some temporary staff).
We have contracts within NHS Direct for our core activities, and make use of Government Procurement Service (previously Buying Solutions), Central Office of Information contracts and Framework Agreements for other expenditure.
